TEDx Lewis & Clark College

Deconstruct. That was the theme of Lewis & Clark's first-ever TEDx event which brought together students, faculty, and alumni to witness ideas worth sharing. I was fortunate to be part of the entirely student-led team that brought this amazing vision to life.

How does one do justice to an already established and powerful brand? This was the question a group of four students and I pondered upon as we obtained Lewis & Clark’s first-ever TEDx license. For a pioneering event created around “Ideas Worth Sharing”, we were challenged with creating content worth sharing to represent not just the Lewis & Clark community, but the TED brand. No pressure, of course :)

Because we were such a small group managing such a large event, everybody did everything. My role spanned from social media content creation to fundraising and event planning. We aimed to consistently engage our audience via social media by using countdowns, polls, giveaways, and questions (for example we asked our followers what the TED movement meant to them and the effect they expected it to have on our community). We engaged our alumni and parents through pitching the event to the college’s Public Relations team and having a story put up on the Lewis & Clark website’s landing page.

The result was a sold-out event in two days and an epic event!
