Student Activities

High engagement and return on investments. These are the two central goals I keep in mind when working with a team to create marketing materials for various Lewis & Clark student organizations. By using innovative email designs and campaigns that tell compelling stories, I am able to connect with the audience and compel them to take action.

Most of my creative efforts have centered around building communities and establishing connections between people with shared interests. However, my most interesting projects have been those that required my team and me to tell stories that shift the predominant culture and ignite behavioral change,

I was on the founding team of Lewis & Clark’s Student Philanthropy Council which was created with to spreading awareness about philanthropy and promote a culture of philanthropy on campus through fun events. The team was tasked with creating engaging campaigns that not only informed the student body about the importance of philanthropy but mobilized them to take action. In my two roles as Fundraising and Finance Manager, and then Events & Brand Marketer, I gained experience in creating informative and engaging content that consistently resonated with our target audience and produced results. The greatest challenge my team and I encountered was establishing a culture of philanthropy where one had seized to exists. Students, understandably so, were reluctant to give to an institution they were still attending. However, we were able to take this challenge and turn it into an opportunity for us to create the narrative we wanted around student philanthropy, and effectively create a new culture on campus.

The theme of impacting culture and creating behavioral change followed me as I took over the leadership of Lewis & Clark’s Entrepreneurship Club. This posed an even greater challenge in that we sought to spark the entrepreneurial mindset within a community that associated entrepreneurship with “dirty capitalism” and all the ills that come with it. How do we solve this problem and increase engagement? By changing the narrative. What followed was a series of campaigns that I spearheaded which aimed to redefine our community’s idea of entrepreneurship by telling stories of positive impact and societal improvement. The results of our ongoing efforts have been increased community discourse on what entrepreneurship truly is, and increased engagement with the club measured by event attendance and inter-club collaboration.
